Four conversions in one place. Each result shows the formula it used, so you can check it against the rule printed on your marksheet or grade card.
-
1
Choose a conversion
CGPA to % multiplies your CGPA by the board or university multiplier. % to CGPA divides by it. Marks to Grade turns marks out of a total into a percentage and a grade band. Percentage simply works out marks obtained out of the total.
-
2
Pick your board or university
CBSE and Mumbai University use 9.5 here; ICSE, Anna University and VTU use 10. If your institution prints a different formula, choose Custom and enter its multiplier.
-
3
Enter your numbers and press Calculate
You get the result, the formula used and a class label (Distinction from 75%, First Class from 60%, Second Class from 50%, Pass from 40%). CGPA conversions also show a quick-reference table from 6.0 to 10.0.

Which formula is right for you?
The 9.5 multiplier is the conversion CBSE gave for its CGPA-era Class 10 results (indicative percentage = 9.5 x CGPA). Universities set their own rules, and some use a formula with an offset rather than a single multiplier. Always use the rule printed on your grade card; if it is a plain multiplier, enter it under Custom.
The Marks to Grade bands (91-100 A1, 81-90 A2, 71-80 B1, 61-70 B2, 51-60 C1, 41-50 C2, 33-40 D, below 33 E) follow the familiar nine-point scale. Boards can award grades by rank rather than fixed cut-offs, so treat the grade as an estimate and the percentage as the exact figure.
Teachers who run tests on MegaExams get percentages, pass or fail against a pass mark they choose, and class rankings worked out automatically for every student, so there is nothing to convert by hand.
