The Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam is how the Staff Selection Commission recruits 12th-pass candidates as Lower Division Clerk / Junior Secretariat Assistant (LDC/JSA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO). Tier 1 covers English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude (basic arithmetic skill) and General Awareness, 25 questions each, for 200 marks in 60 minutes. Tier 2 raises each question to 3 marks with a 1-mark penalty, and adds a computer knowledge module and a typing or data entry skill test.
