CBSE Class 11 Physics is examined by the school, not the board, through a 70-mark annual theory paper and 30 marks of practical work. The syllabus is front-loaded with mechanics: units, kinematics and laws of motion carry 23 marks, and work and energy, rotational motion and gravitation another 17, before properties of matter, thermodynamics and kinetic theory (20) and oscillations and waves (10).
